Summary
I concur with the previous review, I have just brought this Fujifilm J50home and am sorely disappointed. It's been at least 6 years since I last purchased a digital camera and was shocked at how pooly this camera performs in comparison with my old camera. I was looking for something small and lower on the price scale, but i wasn't willing to compromise quality... and one would think the quality i'm used to, using a 6 year old camera, wouldn't leave the bar that high, but this measly piece of junk failed to even compare with a chunky, heavy, slow 4 megapixel Minolta Dimage s414!!! It is an embarrasement.
I haven't taken a good picture with it yet, the macro function is a joke, as any other setting will take better close-up pictures. I also think the array of settings available just mimick one another, and provide no real difference between one another. The pictures are grainy and off-colour, and the focus mechanism may as well be set on perma-blurry.

Word to the wise: Spend your money on anything but this camera, better using a relic than see what 6 years of technological advancement hasn't done!

Strengths
iI hasn't fallen apart yet (in the few hours i've been testing it), and comes with two batteries, which charge quickly and don't drain too fast. It wasn't hugely expensive either.

Weaknesses
all listed in review. and many more not mentioned.

Customer Service
very good, the lad at future shop was very helpful and kind, and I'm sorry he sent me home with a piece of garbage.

Summary
This camera is a thousand steps backwards in digital camera technology. It is a travesty on fuji's history of quality cameras. We previously owned a Fuji 3500. When it broke we were wanting to get another fuji due to the great quality pictures we were able to take with our previous camera. We wanted a smaller more portable camera than the 3500 and thought that by going with the new J50, which has 8.1 megapixels and several photo settings that it couldn't be bad. Well it is, and the worst part about it is the frustration that one out of every 100 pictures will actually be decent, not great, but decent. This camera is something you would expect out of a 1st generation digital camera. The colors are dull, and reminiscent of those yellowed pictures your mom and dad have in photo albums from the 70's, and that is that 1 out of 100 decent pictures. Most of the time they are fuzzy, grainy, or cloudy. Very depressing considering the easy reviews this camera has seen on the internet from the usual review sites.

Strengths
small compact size

Weaknesses
Horrible picture quality. Grainy, dull colors. Worthless photo settings.
