Summary
I was intitially very hesitant about choosing this camera for 2 reasons: 1. At $89.99 (regular price) I did not believe this could be a decent performing camera, 2. Preferred a LI-ion battery. I gave the camera a chance despite its price tag and have been shocked that it was priced so low, making it an amazing value. The S760 performs better than many of the $150 or even $200 cameras I looked at. As for batteries, I'm now actually glad I went with a camera with a AA battery type as it's a better match for my lifestyle. I suppose this could be a con for some though. I'll be purchasing rechargable batteries, so as I see it using AAs is comparable to LI-ion batteries, but the batteries can be found anywhere and are cheaper should your battery die when needed. After picture quality, I was most impressed by the high-res LCD screen-it's beautiful and clear. This camera performed exceptionally well in low light conditions. I've played around with all the features, prgrams, etc, and find everything does what it should and exceptionally well. The self portrait mode is a fun added bonus for getting the perfect picture of yourself. Plus the S760 is very attractive, easy to navigate, and comes in four colours. I bought the pink one because I love pink, but the blue one is a beautiful ice blue. I recommend this camera to any snapshooter. At $90 you're really getting the best quality camera at the lowest price so there is no need to sacrifice. Don't overlook this camera because of its price, but instead take advantage of the seemingly miscalculated MSRP.
Strengths
Excellent picture quality even in low light, high res LCD screen, digital image stabilization, face recognition, self portrait mode, good programs, easy to navigate, records video w/ sound, bonus voice recorder, cute and compact, choice of 4 colours
Weaknesses
Battery type (AA) adds a bit of weight to the 123g camera (still light), plastic construction

Summary
I found myself in Guadalajara with some time on my hands. Had brought my Nikon DSLR outfit with me, but decided that I really needed a point and shoot to take full advantage of the walking/shooting opportunities. So, I went to a camera store and did some shopping. I was totally unfamiliar with more recent P/S digitals..I haven't purchased one for awhile. I got my hands on this model and realized it's potential. Came with a case and a 1GB card. A great deal of control for a cheap P/S and a really informative unit. Very compact with a great LCD. Shutter lag virtually non-existent. Shot for a day with varying ISO. Was amazed when analyzing the pictures in my computer that evening. Very useable up to 800, and very nice at the other end at 80. Digital image stabilization works well. Controls are quite intuitive. Photos were all well exposed with little burnout of highlights, and sharp. This camera is really a ball to use. Only wish it had an optical viewfinder and a 28mm lens. Samsung?.........
It's available much cheaper under less exigent circumstances. I'm going to buy another for my wife when I get home. Recommended!
I would give it a 4+ compared to truly similar units.
Strengths
Compactnesss; overall performance; ease of use; quality of photos
Great for travel, family pix
Weaknesses
No optical viewfinder; only 35mm equivalent at wide end.
